Farmer’s Market Haul 03/23/14

Traditionally, people have attended church on Sunday mornings. Palo Altans, however, shop at the California Street farmer’s market (which can also be a spiritual experience).

I try to shop at the market every week. I can’t grow my food at the moment (I have no sun in my yard), so I depend on the farmer’s market for delicious, organic, fresh and locally grown produce. I bring cloth produce bags that I sewed a few years ago out of old sheets, and of course cloth shopping bags. Along with my goodies, I do bring home some waste—twist ties keep the carrots and radishes bunched together; the milk has a plastic lid—but not much. (This is why I chose approaching zero waste for my blog name. I don’t think I can get down to zero. Also, I like calculus…)
